about

MOBO-supported artist and producer Freya Roy is coming back to the surface with her second single ’22 Movements’ from her forthcoming debut album AHLKE, which takes her listeners through a shimmering landscape of Neo Soul, Jazz and Hip Hop. Exploring sexual identity and the struggles she experienced whilst coming out during University and throughout her LGBTQ relationship, Freya's writing on '22 Movements' has a groove and locomotive thrill that opens the eyes and makes you curious where the song is headed.

Releasing officially on March 25th under her label, FCR Music, '22 Movements' has already gained Freya huge respect from Foundation FM’s DJ Ellie Prohan and Refinery29. Following shortly at the beginning of April, the music video features a beautiful solo performance from UK-renowned ballet and contemporary dancer, Salome Pressac. Her improvised dance reflects on the writing of Freya’s ’22 Movements’ on identity and sexuality. Featuring some of Submotion Orchestra’s top players, including pianist and composer, Taz Modi, and mix engineer, Dom Howard, ’22 Movements’ is a powerful track by Freya Roy and if it’s anything like the rest of the tracks on the forthcoming album AHLKE, it will be something that certainly must not be missed.
